One of the largest announcements of the past PlayStation Showcase, was the trailer of God of War: Ragnarok , title that marks the end of the Nordic saga for Kratos, something that surprised more than one. Faced with the questions of the public, Cory Barlog, who directed the delivery of 2018, has revealed why this sequel is the conclusion of this story .
In an interview with Kaptain Kuba, Barlog pointed out that this decision was taken, since he did not want to prolong this story . The developer director has mentioned that the period of development for a game in this series is almost five years, so performing a third installment meant to see the end of this trip 15 years after its start. This was what he commented:
I think one of the most important reasons is that the first game s first game lasted five years. The second game, I do not know how long it will take, but I m going to say it s going to take almost a similar time.
Then, if you think about a third in that same [time period], we are talking about a lapse of almost fifteen years of a single story and I feel that that is too extensive. I feel that we are asking for too much to say that the real end of that story takes so long ... it just feels too long. Given where the team was and where it was Eric with what I wanted to do, I was like look, I think we can actually do this in the second story, because most of what we were trying to do from the beginning was to tell something about this characters . Kratos and Atreus are the core of history.
Considering that many series want to expand their history for years and years, that God of War decides to close this chapter with only two games, it feels like a fresh air. God of War Ragnarok will reach PS4 and PS5 at some point of 2022. On related topics, here you can learn more about this end. Similarly, the director of this title talks about the news of this delivery.
